Description
Join us for an evening of exhilarating spoken word with Brighton's longest-running poetry slam at our new venue The Tusk Club @ The Walrus. Featuring performances from The Ledge, Anna Free and Tyrone Lewis. Hosted by Leanne Shorley (@leanneshorley).
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.
Tyrone Lewis (he/him) is a pop-culture powerhouse of a poet and has held the title of UK Poetry Slam Champion, Roundhouse Poetry Slam Champion and Axis Poetry Slam Champion. Author of his debut collection ‘Blackish’ and its sequel, '2 Black 2 Furious'. @tyronelewis22
The Ledge is a global rock icon. He's played Wembley Stadium, Madison Square Garden and the upstairs function room at Presuming Eds. Of course, you'll remember him as frontman of classic rock band Semolina Question Mark and his subsequent superlative solo career with sensational songs such as Between the Wallpaper and the Wall, One Inch Down the Highway and Because I Love You (I'd Cross the Desert on an Ice Cube). @theledgeofficial
Anna Free rustles up poetic mouthfuls that chew on life. Served with dollops of candor, a side of pathos and sprinkles of irony. Not one to shy away from awkward moments with poems like Ode to the Fanny Fart, Anna speaks to the unspeakable with wit and affection. Anna has written, produced, and directed her own show based on her self-published book The Innocence of Being Eve - a trilogy of funny, reverent poems about a woman searching for love, meaning, and connection. She hosts Open Mic Lewes and regularly performs at local events and festivals. Anna was long-listed for The National Poetry Awards in 2022 with her poem Killing Time. @annafreepoet
HOW TO SLAM: 'Performer Tickets' are now SOLD OUT for 2nd April. If you'd like to come along as an audience member and be on the slam reserve list, please let us know at the door on the night (often, at least one slammer with 'Performer Ticket' won't turn up, so it's worth a punt!)
