London's best monthly slam poetry event, featuring the best spoken word and underground hip hop artists.
Fun and friendly, Hammer & Tongue Hackney puts the spotlight on up and coming poets in our open mic slam - judged by our audience.
This month featuring rapper Tony D, performance poet Mark Gwynne Jones, and last month's slam winner Fausta Joly.
Hosted by Sam Siva, Sam Berkson and Luke AG.
Open mic sign-up on the night from 7.30pm. Event begins at 8pm.

Tony D
Undefeated Don't Flop Battle Rap champion, Tony D is a legend of UK hiphop, one part of the UK rap group Poisonous Poets, alongside Lowkey, Reveal and others. He continues to release music and has stormed the spoken word scene with the same type of force as he took the world of battle rap.
Mark Gwynne Jones
Well known for mind-altering poetry with an almost music hall edge, Mark Gwynne Jones mixes humour and poignancy with great skill. Featured on BBC Radio 4’s Wondermentalist Cabaret and Radio 3’s Late Junction, his shows have won five festival fringe awards for Best Spoken Word. He has published five collections of poetry and has appeared in numerous anthologies. Reviewing his collection Psychicbread, Vicki Holman declared it: ‘contagious, gritty and sometimes startlingly sensitive.’ In 2015, Mark toured southern India and later the UK with Indian poet and playwright Mamta Sagar.
