Description
IOActive invites you to the November edition of HACK::SOHO, a monthly event at our central London office. Join IOActive and your fellow hackers, tech heads, enthusiasts, and visionaries for food, cold beer, and hot cybersecurity talk.
The November edition of HACK::SOHO will feature guest speaker, Alejandro Hernández, our Mexico-based Senior Consultant, who has been with IOActive for nearly six years now. Alejandro has been involved in code review, network penetration testing, and web security projects for Global 500 companies. He is also the brain behind IOActive’s recent research into the (in)security of mobile trading apps. He has presented at conferences such as DEF CON, Black Hat Arsenal, BruCON in Belgium, DragonJAR Conference in Colombia, and AlligatorCON in Poland.
When Alejandro is not ‘at work’ he likes to research a variety of topics, such as the OSINT, brain-wave technologies, and most recently, mobile trading apps. He has written numerous tools, including the well-known DotDotPwn directory traversal fuzzer and Melkor, an ELF file format fuzzer.
During his talk, "Insecure Trading Apps in Shareholders’ Pockets" given straight from Mexico over the screen, Alejandro will:
• Explain the security vulnerabilities he found in 21 of the most used trading apps (those used to buy and sell financial instruments, such as stocks, options, ETFs, CFDs, etc.)
• Discuss the reasons he believes these problems exist in 2017
• Talk about cybersecurity regulations and rating organizations in the FinTech industry, focusing on electronic trading
• Give recommendations for end users of these apps
• Talk about what we can do to improve these technologies
Engage in the discussion with Alejandro, ask questions, learn new things, and network all while enjoying drinks and music.
Register now to reserve your spot.
See you there!
Best Regards,
The IOActive Team
