Grim Reaper / Dementor Sculpture Workshop with Powertex

From GBP 55.00

Location

Date

Oct 31 2019 10:00 - 14:00

Description

Get ready for Halloween with this fantastically spooky Grim Reaper / Dementor workshop for all you Harry Potter fans out there.  You will be given step by step instructions on how to create your sculpture using Powertex fabric hardener.  Powertex is non toxic, safe and environmentally friendly product.

The figure is approximately 43cm / 17inches high. I provide the armature (stand) and skull which we attach to the wooden stand/armature then use wire for arms then build and pad out with foil and drape fabric soaked in powertex on to the figure. We then break for a bit of lunch while the sculpture dries off a bit.

Once the fabric is is touch dry we can add the paint effects to give form and character.  You could add a scythe or any other items to your Reaper. You are welcome to bring your own trinkets such as broken jewellery /chains and spooky embellishments to add.  If you wanted to make a scythe in advance you are very welcome but we won't have time in the workshop.

By home time the sculpture will be touch dry but takes about 3 days to fully harden, then it needs to fully cure for three weeks to weather proof before you put the sculpture outside if it is intended as a garden ornament. It shouldn't be a problem to take it home on the bus or a taxi. I provide plastic aprons so you can wrap it that then when you get home you need to then stand it somewhere where it wont be disturbed and adjust any fabric parts that may may have bent in transit (it stays pliable for a few hours).

No experience is necessary but due to the wet sculpting method you must have a reasonable amount of dexterity in order to manipulate the fabric.

(At the tutors discretion children age 10+ may attend with an adult.  A separate ticket must be purchased for the child and adult, please email the tutor before booking a child place as these are limited).

Any questions?  Please contact the tutor artforwellbeingmk@gmail.com

Tea, coffee biscuits will be provided you just need to bring your lunch.

FAQ

  • I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

  • I wish to cancel my ticket and receive a refund. What should I do?

The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you. To get in touch with the event organiser, simply reply to your order confirmation email or use the "Contact organiser" form on the organiser's profile. For more help with this, read here.

  • I have registered on the waiting list, what happens now?

If more tickets become available you will be notified (by email) amongst others who have joined the list. Purchasing is on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, read here.

  • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the event online. For more information on this, read here.
