Description
The Gaelic Voices Festival is now in its fourth year of celebrating the creativity and vibrancy of Gaelic languages and culture. The festival is one of the rare opportunities for London audiences to hear the best of Gaelic song from Ireland and Scotland and The Isle of Man.
The festival appeals to a diverse audience from fluent speakers to curious newcomers. So come on down with open ears to hear the concert, learn some songs or tunes at the workshops during the day and stick around to share some songs and tunes at the session after the early evening concert.
The grand concert will be at 5pm (doors 4.30pm) at the London Irish Centre. This year’s grand concert will feature a new Gaelic supergroup celebrating the age-old links of the Gaelic language in Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man are forged anew in Aon Teanga. They are supported by The Friel Sisters from (Glasgow/Donegal) and all the artists will be giving song and instrumental workshops earlier in the day.
The festival concert will feature this year’s winners of the Gaelic Voices Competition. You can hear all the entries by clicking on ‘posts to page’ on the festival Facebook page. One of last year’s winners has gone on to appear on BBC, Channel 4 and NBC in America: http://www.irishtimes.com/culture/how-a-london-ima...1.2140767
