Description
Come and enjoy a friendly evening of rope bondage. We offer a social environment to do rope and have fun, however because we love you, we also have an optional class every month.
Please note that we have an intermediate focussed class that runs on the 2nd Monday of the month.
Fundamentals Class - 7.30pm (Christian Red, Model TBC)
This class lays down the foundations of shibari. We will look into the technical, anatomical and intellectual aspects of rope bondage. The intention of this class is to allow students to construct a variety of ties safely.
Suitable for: beginners or those wishing to revise their fundamentals.
You will need: At least one piece of rope.
Where is it held?
We do our thing in the upstairs room of Ye Old Salutation Inn (The Sal), a kink friendly pub.
I'm new to rope, will everyone laugh at me?
This is a all-levels friendly event. We will always have an ethos which is focused on sharing and helping as well as classes which are geared towards new starters.
Am I welcome?
We are committed to welcoming all levels, genders, orientations and body types.
What if I don't have a rope partner?
You don't need a partner to attend the rope social, a lot of people attend on their own to socialise and learn.
If you're on your own or new, we'll introduce you to a few people and help you find a partner if you want to practice rope. If you want to arrange a rope buddy ahead of time, feel free to post in the group thread :)
What rope/other paraphernalia do I need?
If you have rope already, bring it! To get the most out of the classes, you'll need some rope with you, unless you believe that rope is a state of mind (it isn't).
We have limited quantities of bog standard rope on the day which we pass on dirt cheap. Check out the post on the forum and let me know ahead of time if you need some so we can have a smooth start.
Safety shears are super important for safe rope play. I'll have some on the day which you can buy, let me know if you need them.
The floor of the pub is wooden, so you may want to bring a blanket/yoga mat to sit on.
What if I'm not interested in the class?
If you're not interested in the class, no worries, feel free to do your own thing. We'll ask you when you arrive what classes (if any) you'd like to join in.
What are the rules/etiquette?
The etiquette is, in a nutshell, don't be a spanner. But a few specific points:
- Respect people's boundaries- if you want to tie someone or want them to tie you, be prepared to take a potential rejection with good grace. If you want to learn something, be nice and ask.
- Tie safely- check your bondage partner's physical limitations and tie safely. We're not heavy handed, but if you deliberately ignore safety advice we'll ask you to leave.
- If you have any issues- have a word with one of the organisers and we'll sort it out quickly and subtly on the day.
- Nakedness- Please keep your clothes on, thank you :)
- Do not capture an image of anyone without their permission, no exceptions, pay attention for people in the background.
Where is the place?
We do our Rope Social thing at Ye Olde Salutation Inn, directions...
Where can I park?
Nottingham is weird for parking. In most cases, it's cheaper to park in a car park then it is to park on the street, especially for long periods.
The cheapest parking is multi-story at:
Intu Car Park Rick St, Nottingham NG1 3PR,
But there is also:
NCP, Arndale Centre, Maid Marian Way, NG1 6AE
Nottingham Castle Car Park, Albion Street, NG1 7FF
The closest parking is onstreet around Spaniel Row/St Nicholas Street/Castle Gate.
Feel free to educate me if there are other good places to park nearby :)
Organiser
We run educational rope events and social events in the Nottingham/East Midlands area.
Our aim is to be open, friendly and inclusive.
Venue
Ye Olde Salutation Inn (upstairs), Hounds Gate, NG1 7AA Nottingham
