    Description

From Borehamwood to Hollywood: The Rise and Fall and Rise of Elstree (2014) tells the story of 100 years of filmmaking in Elstree and Borehamwood – from the opening of the very first studio in Borehamwood and the silent era, to Britain's first "all-talkie" film, the post-war years and the boom in production in both film and television in the 50s and 60s, as well as the losses of major studios and the fight to save Elstree Studios from demolition.

Hear about how all these events happened, and much more, from those who were there making them happen – with exclusive interviews from The Elstree Project including Steven Spielberg, Sir Roger Moore, Brian Blessed, Simon Pegg, Christiane Kubrick and Barbara Windsor MBE as well as over 40 local former crew members.

The 90-minute documentary is narrated by Barbara Windsor, with additional linking material from film historian Paul Welsh MBE, and was directed by Howard Berry.

You won't want to miss this opportunity to hear the true stories of this unique filmmaking town, which is still making films today.

Find out more on The Elstree Project website.

Doors open at 18.30, film starts at 19.30.
