Description
We live in an era of great migrations, when travel - by choice or necessity - is one of the primary chords of existence. And yet the acoustics of modern life are also shaped by smaller movements, in and out of spaces, into virtual worlds and zones of intimacy. How do we negotiate these different kinds of arrival? Is there any connection between these greater movements and smaller ones? How does one compare moving across town to arriving in a new nation all together?
Two writers from the inaugural issue of Freeman's - the new literary magazine created by John Freeman, the renowned critic and former editor of Granta - will discuss these and other questions with him at a special preview opening of Libreria, a brand-new East London bookshop.
The discussion begins at 7pm, and is followed by a wine reception.
Helen Simpson is an award winning short story writer and author most recently of "Cockfosters," and Michael Salu is an artist, writer and art director.
Libreria comes from Second Home, the workspace and cultural venue that brings together a global community of thinkers, makers, artists and entrepreneurs. Please note that Libreria is a smartphone-free space, and photography is not permitted. The bookshop officially opens on 24th February.
