    Description

The Foragers are a group of hunters and gatherers who forage for wild plants, fruits and fungi around the countryside of St Albans, and serve what they find at their wild food pub The Verulam Arms.

We already run a series of wild food walks, giving tips on finding and identifying tasty treats in the hedgerows of St Albans. On our magic, medicine and folklore walks, we want to show you the weirder side of foraging: traditional ritual uses of herbs in witchcraft, healing and dreams, the ways plants have influenced folk music and poetry since ancient times, and anything else too wild and magical to be included in our regular foodie walks.

At 4pm, you meet us at a countryside location a short drive away from The Verulam Arms (you'll receive an email with the exact secret location a day or two before the walk). Then, for two hours, you join us on a walk around some of our favourite foraging locations. Elissa, our resident herbalist, will share her knowledge of medicinal and magical uses of herbs, while Richard, our Forager and eccentric medievalist, will introduce you to the weird and wonderful history of Britain's relationship with its wild plants. We'll taste some wild liqueurs, smoke some dream-intensifying herbs, and perform some intense ritual magic.

By 6pm, we'll head back to The Verulam Arms to unwind with a tasting of the various herbal and healing teas we make with wild plants. Of course there'll also be plenty of opportunity to sample the wide range of craft beers, craft liqueurs and cocktails offered on the bar at The Verulam Arms...

Every ticket includes the 2 hour folklore walk, with samples of liqueurs, tinctures and sacred herbs, as well as samples of herbal tea back at the pub.

Please note, cancellations less than a week before the event are non-refundable.
