"The time has come to share my words not only with you, dear Papa. There is much to say. My truth, your truth, our truth. That story that has been waiting to come out for far too long."
The history of the Gucci family is an ancient one, in which great entrepreneurial successes areintertwined with painful family tragedies and sensational legal battles. In recent months, the story ofMaurizio Gucci (grandson of Guccio, founder of the company; son of Rodolfo, who dedicated himselfto the family company after leaving his career as an actor, and actress Sandra Ravel) and PatriziaReggiani, of their meeting, their marriage, their divorce and the death of the former, in 1995, has beenbrought up to date by the film House of Gucci, starring Lady Gaga and directed by Ridley Scott. Finally, now, after a lifelong silence, Maurizio's daughter, Allegra, is speaking out. This book, sincereand poignant, through an imaginary dialogue between the daughter and her father, gives us the truthof Allegra. Of a woman who remembers, reflects and reprocess with extreme frankness the world ofwhich she was born. The relationship with her father, yesterday and today; with her mother, who hasbeen through a long imprisonment; with her grandmother, greedy and tyrannical; with the vulturesand profiteers surroundings her life. The death of her father marked for Allegra the abrupt passage toa different dimension from the one, of extraordinary wealth, known until that moment. To theincessant suffering caused by such a great, unthinkable and violent loss, other pains were added:slander, gossip, judicial and media persecution.
