WOLF WHISTLED PRESENTS…
DAY OF DOING #8:
FEMINISM & 'COUNTER TERRORISM'
Exposing the impact of UK government counter-terrorism policies on British Muslim women today.
“I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own” - Audre Lorde
British Muslim women face many threats and challenges today in the UK. As acts of terrorism continue in Britain, the government’s counter-terrorism policies continue to toughen, but exactly whom are they protecting?
At this event we will learn about British Muslim women’s experience in the age of terrorism and ‘counter terrorism’, and explore ways we can support our Muslim sisters who are often on the frontline in a climate of suspicion, fear and Islamophobia.
The event will give attendees an insight into the government's counter-terrorism policies that are being delivered in the public sector. As teachers are asked to monitor children and doctors are asked to monitor patients, we ask whether this is the beginning of a real Big Brother state...
