The Factual Animation Film Fuss is a series of free screenings of animated documentaries over the weekend of 26th and 27th September. From 4pm Saturday we will show screenings of animated documentary shorts, followed by a panel talk at 6:30pm. On Sunday there are two more screenings from 4pm.
This ticket gives you FREE access to all of these events:
26th September
4pm-5pm: The Unfilmable Truth. Animated docscan tell stories that traditional documentaries cannot. These films about love, death, politics, physical and mental illness use animation to show us truths that live action cannot convey.
5:20pm-6:20pm: Stories and Portraits. Stories and portraits are two cornerstones of documentary filmmaking, and animated docs are no different. Here is a selection of some of the best from contemporary filmmakers.
6:45pm-8pm: Panel talk! The most exciting part of the weekend, this panel talk features 4 prominent voices in animated documentary, and they will be covering the medium's past, present and future.
27th September
4pm-5pm: Politics and Activism. This is a screening of the best of recent political animated docs. The accessibility of animated docs means that many people around the world use the format to tell compelling local and international stories.
5:20pm-6:20pm: Power of Perspective. An undeniable strength of animation is its potential to convey issues of great scale, complexity or abstractness so that we can better understand them. This is a selection of films that excel at giving us power through perspective.
