Twenty-six year old Alice Sara Ott, joins the Basel Symphony Orchestra to give a performance of Ravel’s playful and serene Piano Concerto in G major. Ott has just finished touring with Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds – best known for his BAFTA-winning score for the TV series Broadchurch, with whom she recorded the chart topping album The Chopin Project. The German-Japanese pianist, whose wish is to appeal to a young audience through her relaxed dress code, made her breakthrough at the Barbican at the tender age of twenty-two, when one critic declared her recital 'the kind of gawp-inducing bravura performance of which legends are made'.

The concert culminates with Stravinsky’s tumultuous The Rite of Spring, regarded as the first piece which founded the work of all modern music. The work's Parisian premiere in 1913 provoked protests and riots due to its breaking of convention and is known as one of the greatest scandals in the history of music. Since then it has been adapted for and included in an estimated 150 productions around the world including Walt Disney’s iconic Fantasia.
