    Description

    Event Details

As is increasingly acknowledged, the race to net zero will involve a significant uptick in metal supply, which in the short term will be overwhelmingly sourced from mining. However, a long term goal embodied in many governments' critical minerals strategies is the development of a circular economy whereby production and consumption of such metals will increasingly come from recycling and reuse. But - is such a circular economy possible, and what will it look like? And what would the role of mining be in this model, and of geoscience in enabling and supporting it?

We invite you to a special 1 hour roundtable discussion webinar with four experts from academia, industry and an NGO to discuss this topic. This will be followed by a Q&A session.

    Panelists

Tobias Kind-Rieper, Global Lead Mining & Metals, WWF

Eva Marquis, Postdoctoral Researcher, Camborne School of Mine

Gavin Mudd, Director, UK Critical Minerals Intelligence Centre

Lucy Smith, Head of Transformation, Minerals Processing Institute

Chair: Nick Gardiner, University St Andrews

    Location and timing

This webinar will take place virtually via zoom on 30th May at 13:00 - 14:00 (BST).
