Description

East London Arts & Music presents:

Oxjam Stratford East: The Music Festival that Beats Poverty

In collaboration with Oxjam, ELAM's final year emerging artists bring their cutting edge new music to the stage on Thursday 10th October 2019, in celebration of the extraordinary work of Oxfam.

The world’s 8 richest people own the same wealth as the poorest half of humanity. Yet one in nine people still goes to bed hungry.

Oxjam is a festival like no other. Not only is it the UK’s largest grassroots music festival, it is also dedicated to eradicating poverty around the world. Since its inception, more than 60,000 musicians have played to an audience of 1.5 million, raising in excess of £2.8 million to support Oxfam’s vital work.

As well as raising money to fight poverty worldwide, Oxjam provides a platform for the next generation of musical talent. Oxjam has helped break bands such as Everything Everything, Foals, Young Fathers and Drenge, gaining backing from the likes of Metronomy, Annie Mac, Mr Jukes and Fatboy Slim along the way.

This is ELAM's first major collaboration with Oxfam and ALL profits will go to supporting Oxfam's projects. So, if you're looking for a night of phenomenal music whilst supporting a worthwhile cause, look no further!

Director of Music, David Crozier, says: "After a year of proving themselves, this cohort has been let off the leash so expect a flawlessly curated night of original artistry. Solos, bands, DJs... whatever you hear, it will be oozing originality."

This will be this magnificent cohort's last performance in ELAM's BRIT Trust Theatre before they embark on the challenge of planning and managing their own series of events across London in 2020. So if you want a sneak peek of what to expect from the ELAM Event Season, get your Oxjam tickets now before they sell out.
