Oxjam Stratford East & East London Arts & Music present:
MUSIC BEATS POVERTY
In collaboration with OXJAM STRATFORD EAST, ELAM's final year emerging artists bring their cutting edge new music to the stage on THURSDAY 10th of OCTOBER 2019 in celebration of the extraordinary work of Oxfam.
The world’s 8 richest people own the same wealth as the poorest half of humanity. Yet one in nine people still goes to bed hungry.
Oxjam is a festival like no other. Not only is it the UK’s largest grassroots music festival, it is also dedicated to eradicating poverty around the world. Since its inception, more than 60,000 musicians have played to an audience of 1.5 million, raising in excess of £2.8 million to support Oxfam’s vital work.
As well as raising money to fight poverty worldwide, Oxjam provides a platform for the next generation of musical talent. Oxjam has helped break bands such as Everything Everything, Foals, Young Fathers and Drenge. We have also had backing from the likes of Metronomy, Annie Mac, Mr Jukes and Fatboy Slim.
This event takes place at ELAM, Maltings Close, London E3 3TA. Strictly limited parking for registered disabled badges only (please complete booking question in advance). Guests are otherwise advised to travel via public transport. Strobe lighting used throughout.
East London Arts & Music is the industry academy for 16- to 19-year-olds, founded in partnership between educators and the creative industries, focused on developing the next generation of creative and business talent.Find out more at elam.co.uk
