Description
The Queen had only one way of settling all difficulties, great or small. 'Off with his head!' she said, without even looking around.
But we have another solution! Introduce a £10/year membership subscription for our cycling group.
This ride used to be done as a Let's Ride ride, but unfortunately someone has deleted it. There are suspicions that it may have been an inside job. However, all is not lost, as we can still do it a Billetto ride. Doing this also gives us the advantage that we can see the email addresses of the attendees, so we can invite them to a face-to-face AGM.
This does mean we now need to solve the freerider problem, so numbers on the ride are limited to 15, with priority access to these places being given to those who have paid the £10 per year East End Cycling Club membership subscription to Andrea Caldera, either in cash or via PayPal to eastendcclondon@gmail.com.
We will meet at 9.30am at the View Tube, Marshgate Lane, London E15 2PJ and we will do a loop ride to Hyde Park.
The 24 mile route for our ride can be downloaded from here https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37203370.
Our outward route includes a section of CS3 and we then join the NCN13 Thames Path, which takes us through Wapping & St Katherine's Docks. We pass Tower Hill, re-joining CS3 and continuing along the Embankment towards Westminster. Heading past Buckingham Palace we will then do a circuit of Hyde Park, stopping off for a refreshment break at the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen.
On the return journey we will follow CS3 on a similar route back including the historic Cable Street passing the battle mural then we will return to our start point via Cody Dock.
This is a relatively flat ride and will be taken at a leisurely pace. Riders of all abilities are welcome, but please note the 24 miles distance.
eBikes are welcome.
All participants are expected to bring:
- A bike in good working order with tyres pumped to the correct pressure. If in doubt, have it checked over by a local bike shop or qualified mechanic.
- A cycle helmet
- Carry at least a spare inner tube, pump and tyre levers.
- A cycle lock for use at the refreshment stop.
- Dress for the expected weather on the day.
Please do not attend if you are displaying Coronavirus symptoms
Send a join request to the East End Cycling Club to keep up to date on our other rides. Ride pictures are posted on our Facebook page.
