Description

Come and join us for a morning of connection as we explore different themes around sustainability and becoming more environmentally friendly.

Each session will have a different theme and a guest speaker to deliver a brief talk or presentation to the group. There will be time for focused discussion around the topic as well as more general networking opportunities.

We are working in collaboration with Our Bury St Edmunds, Happy Food Coop, Sustainable Bury, Happy Planet Heroes and West Suffolk Council to encourage our community to look after our environment and to connect with one another to share knowledge and ideas.

These sessions will be free with limited spaces available. We will have a retiring donation at the end of each session to go towards West Suffolk Hive CIC, a community interest company based in Bury St Edmunds, which will help fund the biannual Green Fair in Bury. We also ask that you purchase teas and coffees from Oakes Barn and do not bring your own refreshments along.

We hope to host these networking mornings every other month and hope that you will join us for as many as you can.

This session will introduce "Hero Employer", with the founder, Richard Hallewell as our guest speaker.

"The rapid progress towards disclosure of the truly existential nature of the Climate & Biodiversity Emergency has been largely due to the efforts of activist groups like School Strike for Climate and Extinction Rebellion.
Sadly, though, many people who would wish to join and support these movements are fearful to do so because they are afraid of consequences at work or on their school attendance records.
Hero Employer is a community of employers (& schools) who will Declare their support for employees who wish to participate in these movements.

To be an Hero Employer, means signing up to this Declaration:
WE ARE A HERO EMPLOYER
We support the courage of Climate and Biodiversity activists working in peaceful movements such as Extinction Rebellion and Global (and School) Strike for Climate. We therefore pledge that there will be no negativeimpact in the workplace, or recruitment, arising from participation in these movements. On the contrary, any such participation will be viewed in a positive light as it reflects the Environmental stance of this organisation as well as the individual’s strength of character to stand up for what is right despite the sacrifices that it requires."

Together, we can make Bury St Edmunds a greener community, and an example to the rest of the county.

FAQ

  • I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

  • I wish to cancel my ticket and receive a refund. What should I do?

The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you. To get in touch with the event organiser, simply reply to your order confirmation email or use the "Contact organiser" form on the organiser's profile. For more help with this, read here.

  • I have registered on the waiting list, what happens now?

If more tickets become available you will be notified (by email) amongst others who have joined the list. Purchasing is on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, read here.

  • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the event online. For more information on this, read here.

  • What is refund protection and why would I need it?

Refund Protection provides you with the assurance that if unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances interfere with your ability to attend an event you can claim a refund. For more information on this, read here.
