Echo Social // Unlikely Allies

From Free

May 22 2018 18:30 - 22:00

Get together with a bunch of brilliant people, entrepreneurs, creatives and east London independent businesses for an evening of sparking ideas and connections, at brand new Hackney Wick venue Beer Merchants Tap.

This is the first in our new series of themed Echo Socials, where we'll aim to get you thinking as well as connecting. This time, we’ll be exploring the nitty gritty of collaboration, and uncovering stories of unlikely allies coming together to achieve incredible things.

We want to delve into what happens when different people come together to solve a problem or create something new. How do we navigate the challenges of working with others? How can we apply the principles of unlikely collaborations to our own projects?

Come join us for...

  • Beer Merchants Tap's astounding range of craft beers (and other drinks too)
  • Delicious grub from some of our Echo++ foodie alumni
  • Curated connections with Echo members old and new
  • Inspiring short talks designed to get you thinking

Meet the speakers...

Ola Tishe - Flipside / @OlaTishe - Flipside is an immersive learning programme diversifying the talent pool for the tech industry - connecting local young people with some of London's top digital agencies to learn, collaborate and solve real-world problems.

Jo Sayers - ELTjam x Silver Surfers / @eltjam - In 2017, Learner Experience Design company ELTjam met Gordon, chair of Trowbridge Senior Citizens Club. Together, they took on the challenge of helping older local residents to get online and formed the Hackney Wick Silver Surfers.

Tayo, Abz and Sarah - East End Trades Guild / @east_end_trades_guild - The EETG is a community of small independent businesses and the self employed. They take action on a number of issues affecting small businesses owners such as affordable workspace and reviving Cheshire Street Market.

Tickets are free and all are welcome, so feel free to bring an enterprising friend.

You never know, you might meet your next collaborator!

Echo is a marketplace without money, where East London people and businesses can trade anything from graphic design and business advice to accountancy and bike fixing, without using money.

Instead, we use a currency called Echoes, where 1 Echo = 1 hour. With 4500+ members, Echo is a thriving network for connecting, collaborating and sharing resources.

It’s free to join at Yay!

  • I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you. To get in touch with the event organiser, simply reply to your order confirmation email or use the "Contact organiser" form on the organiser's profile. For more help with this, read here.

  • I have registered on the waiting list, what happens now?

If more tickets become available you will be notified (by email) amongst others who have joined the list. Purchasing is on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, read here.

  • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the event online. For more information on this, read here.
