May 1993 at Bloom’s - then one of the last remaining kosher restaurants in Whitechapel. Harry Blacker, renowned cartoonist and satirist of British Jewry, arrives to celebrate his 83rd birthday. Greeted by an extraordinary cast of friends including rabbis, historians, authors and Yiddish theatre performers, the film follows their dinnertime conversations as they use the occasion to reminisce about the Jewish East End of the 1930s – including its humour, history, and politics of solidarity.
“Punctuated with archival footage, animations of Mr. Blacker's quirky cartoons, and the Yiddish swing music of the Barry Sisters - this is the social history of Jewish London at its most personal” – Jewish Film Institute.
A significant work of diasporic oral history, this marks the first screening of the documentary in almost a decade.

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your East Endings tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you.
