Spring Concert Series

presents

the ECHO-Prize awarded Austrian Double-Bassist

DOMINIK WAGNER and his “Gassenhauer Trio”

At only 20 years of age Dominik Wagner, son of Austrian composer Wolfram Wagner

received the prestigious ECHO-Classic Award just a few months ago in Fall 2017

With the most unusual combination of double-bass, clarinet and piano it delighted the jury and audience. Dominik usually performs with Austrian clarinetist Vera Karner, who was also instrumental in the performance of the “Gassenhauer” project which was awarded and will be present in Copenhagen together with a local pianist. A "Gassenhauer” is in Austrian tradition a melody or motive that will linger on once you have heard it for the first time. Mark Chaets composition "Zweiklang für ein Trio" is a good example, as it is a synthesis of some of the most popular Viennese melodies. To increase the variety of styles there are some jazzy pieces like the Sonata 1963 by Frank Proto, as well as more classical pieces such as compositions by Giovanni Bottesinsi and Austrian composer Max Bruch. The upcoming Copenhagen program is a truly eclectic variety of styles which is presented under this unique ECHO-Classic Award theme for the first time to the music loving Danish public.
