Description

Every month The Drouthy Cobbler is hosting Elgin's first regular comedy club. It's your chance to see established acts and spot the next big thing, all in the intimate setting of The Blue Room.

July's line up is;

MC – Gus Lymburn

Gus Lymburn burst onto the comedy scene in 2006 when he performed at The Stand’s Red Raw night. Since then he’s been charming and disturbing audiences in equal measure (don’t be fooled by the cheeky chappy demeanour, behind the puppy dog eyes lurks a sick mind). Never one to take a standard approach to his stand up, Gus’s act can – and has – incorporated a range of props from noodles to a burka, and on one occasion in a routine described by the Evening News as ‘the act of a desperate man’ – a can of squirty cream. He has even sustained a cracked rib when a mock stage fight with a fellow comic got out of hand.

Charming and disturbing audiences in equal measure.....” - Scotsman

Opening Act – Ross Leslie

Ross Leslie started Stand Up in early 2012, with a series of “Gong Show” appearances at The Shack Comedy Club in Edinburgh. This school of hard knocks apprenticeship served Leslie well as it has enabled him to blossom into a proper craftsman with well written material, delivered in an easy going style. Ross has stretched his wings and has appeared at comedy clubs all over Scotland and recently venturing further south into Liverpool, Hartlepool and Leicester.

Middle Act 1 – Paul McDougall

Paul McDougall is a Scottish comedian based in Edinburgh who has been on the circuit for almost 2 years now. Born in Glasgow, grew up in Stirling and now living in the capital has given Paul a rounded viewpoint of Scotland. His laidback stories are delighting audiences around the country in comedy clubs such as The Stand and Vespbar. He is a regular compere and has recently hosted events for Foundation Scotland, Poppy Scotland and Ginger Ale Comedy. After 2 years of performing at various shows at the Edinburgh fringe 2014 sees Paul bring his debut show 'Ken Heehaw' to the fringe.

Middle Act 2 – Thomas Black

Thomas Black is a Scottish stand up comedian based in Edinburgh. His succinctly crafted jokes and sharp delivery have been enjoyed by audiences around the country including appearances throughout the central belt of Scotland Thomas's engaging charm has seen him also becoming an in demand compere. In his 2nd year of Stand up Thomas is bringing his debut show at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe.

Closing Act – Martin Bearne

Martin Bearne, an 8 year comedy veteran has been performing all over the UK. His quirky, offbeat style has proven a winner to audiences near and far. An Aberdeenshire native, he has gained a reputation as a sure fire laughter merchant. Unconventional and definitely left field, Bearne is certainly one to watch.
