In collaboration with our friends at Wright's Wines of Carmarthenshire, Wales, we are extremely excited to welcome French winemaker Luc Sébille of Domaine Carroi Bon Air to Leeds for a night of flowing Cabernet Franc, buckets of terrine and those all-important good times.
We first stumbled across Luc and his wine during a boozy night out in Paris where, quite by chance, we came to be given a brusque masterclass on the wonderful wine of Chinon, a doorstop of bread plastered with pork rillettes and copious amounts of the wine in question to wash it all down. 5 years later, we are very pleased to have him in Leeds to do it all over again on the other side of the channel.
Luc's vineyards are in Chinon and sit in the heart of the regional natural park Loire-Anjou-Touraine. He has 11 hectares of Cabernet Franc; the vines ranging in age from 40-80 years old, all farmed organically and the grapes hand-harvested - no mean feat on this many hectares. His mentor in natural winemaking was Olivier Cousin, but he's developed his own style. He makes just two cuvees, 'Les Debonnaires' and 'Les Bruyeres', both from 100% Cabernet Franc.
It's our pleasure to welcome Luc to the dining room of the Reliance where we will sit together around one big table and enjoy a hearty meal to compliment both of the wines. Luc will head the table to tell you the stories behind the bottles and why Chinon is the best. He'll no doubt have some forthright opinions on the food too. Spaces are extremely limited so if you'd like to join us then please don't delay! Dinner will be served at 7.30pm with Luc in the bar for pre-drinks with wine by the glass from 6pm.
Dinner includes two courses of Chinon-friendly food and two generous glasses of wine. Vegetarian dietary requirements can be catered for, please state when booking your ticket. Wine will be available by the glass on the night if you would like to drink more; bottles will also be available at discounted prices if you'd like to take something home after dinner.
