Established in 1891, the Glasgow University Engineering Society is one of the University of Glasgow’s oldest societies, and still holds a name for itself today. We hold a range of social, educational outreach and career-orientated events throughout the year, including Dinner with Industry, the annual Engineering Ball, school STEM workshops and various site visits and industry talks.
If you are thinking of applying for internships or looking for graduate job opportunities, Dinner with Industry offers you the chance to connect with engineering firms before applying, allowing networking between yourselves, members of industry and university staff. When applying for graduate jobs and placements it is always useful to know someone you can contact specifically, and the event is ideal for making such contacts. You can also discuss careers, degree programmes, and gain an insight into what it is like to be a professional from people who have first-hand experience.
The format of the evening is such that students, industry representatives and university staff can discuss careers, degree programmes, graduate and placement opportunities and more over a three-course meal at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor. There will ideally be a 1:1 ratio of students to professionals to enable close conversation and ensure both parties gain valuable insight from the event.
The evening has a formal dress code and begins with a drinks reception at 19:00 before dinner at 19:30.
If you have any queries about the event, please do not hesitate to contact our society at firstname.lastname@example.org; one of our committee members will be in touch to answer any of your queries.
