    Description

One of the key objectives of the Women's Equality Party (WEP/WE) is to end violence against women. We are delighted, therefore, to welcome Hibo Wardere to the Tunbridge Wells Branch of the WEP to speak to us about Female Genital mutilation (FGM).

At the age of six, Hibo Wardere underwent female genital mutilation in Somalia. Today it is estimated that 60,000 young girls are at risk of FGM in Britain, and in 2015 alone more than 3,000 new cases of FGM were identified in British Hospitals. With the help of Tunbridge Wells WEP Vice Chair, Anna Wharton - she has penned a memoir about her experience of FGM. Please join us on May 16 and hear Hibo's emotional but inspiring story.

N.B. Please note, some of the content may be explicit and uncomfortable to listen to, so please ask for more information if you unsure about whether it is suitable.
