COUNTY LINES: WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW
Get the inside track on how good kids can go off the rails (and what can be done)
Peter Wilson (Metropolitan Police, Operation Trident)
will share a lifetime’s experience of gangs and how they operate to help Parents, Children, Teachers, and anyone coming into contact with young people to know what to look out for to keep our young people safe.
He’ll explain how drug gangs distribute drugs throughout the country using young people.
How young people are trapped
He’ll explain how young people become trapped in County Lines. How young people are tricked, blackmailed, bribed, threatened or persuaded to start working with the gang and how difficult it is, once they’ve started, to get out.
He’ll share real stories
Peter will share real examples of how the gangs operate. Although he won’t go out of his way to shock, some of the details are shocking and sexually explicit. Be aware of this when deciding whether to bring young children.
It’s not just bad lads or challenged families who are at risk
If you were a gang leader looking to recruit a young person to transport drugs you would want to get someone who looked as innocent as possible. Maybe if you were a studious high achiever you would seem more desirable to the gang.
This talk is completely FREE. However, if you are coming, we would ask you to book tickets to allow us to estimate numbers.
We will have light refreshments (tea, coffee, cake etc.) available for sale.
