Description
Find out how Aquapak Polymers Ltd are using the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Scheme to develop environmentally friendly polymers, that will enable recyclability of packaging. This event is part of the Leicestershire Innovation Festival.
Aquapak is an innovative polymer (plastics) producer that enables multi-functional materials to be produced to increase the end of life options and sustainability of packaging without compromising functionality. Hydropol is a soluble, non-toxic and marine safe alternative to traditional plastics, retaining the functionality of packaging whilst dramatically improving their end-of-life options including recyclability, biodegradability, anaerobic digestion and compostability.
KTPs have supported Aquapak in developing Hydropol’s processability during manufacture and continue to further its adhesion onto paper and board to develop additional packaging applications to support the circular economy.
The KTP scheme is funded by UKRI Innovate UK. This partnership is with Loughborough University's Department of Materials which is internationally known for its studies on abhesion and adhesion and the influence of functional surfaces on these properties. Such studies require the use of advanced analytical techniques which are available at Loughborough's Materials Characterisation Centre.
The event will explain how this collaboration came about, how Aquapak and the university are working together, how you can access KTP funding, and what other opportunities there are for collaborating with the university. There will be a Q&A session at the end.
