Description
After 5 years of amazing farmyard antics, Cock & Bull Festival is taking a break this year to rest and recharge the batteries before a triumphant return in 2018. To bridge the gap Grand Union Sound, who have run the festival’s Stone Barn space since the very beginning, will be putting on a fundraising party, here at Grow!
Running from noon until midnight, Grand Union Sound DJs will be spinning a summery mix of festival beats spanning reggae, afrobeat, hip hop, soul and much more.
Delicious food will be provided by Grow Hackney’s BBQ residents Slow Fire London and in the bar you will find craft beers and ciders, organic wine and spirits, fair trade coffee and tea.
Money raised at this event will go to Jamie’s Farm to support the incredible work that they do. Cock & Bull is run by Jamie’s Farm and the festival raises tens of thousands of pounds each year for the charity.
About Jamie's Farm
Jamie’s Farm exists to transform the lives of vulnerable children in challenging urban schools by providing a unique combination of farming, family and therapy through a short stay residential and follow up programme. Jamie’s Farm aims to re-engage children with educational life, and enable them to fulfil their potential in school and a wider social setting. It’s a simple, inspiring project.
Since 2009 Jamie’s Farm has impacted over 4,000 disadvantaged young people who visit one of their farms for a week-long residential that combines ‘Farming, Family and Therapy’. A carefully crafted programme that mixes tangible jobs around the farm with therapeutic support is helping vulnerable children, primarily those with poor behaviour and poor engagement at school, to reengage with education and see their futures in a new light. In 2016, of all the young people who were at risk of exclusion before their visit to Jamie’s Farm, 82% are no longer in this category 6 weeks on. Due to high demand the charity is growing to three farms in 2017 and to four farms in 2018, soon to be working with 1,800 disadvantaged young people each year. www.jamiesfarm.org.uk/
