    Description

The Cobalt Seasonals are 4 special parties a year; simply Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn .The intention is to create a platform where art, film, animation, performance, even magic are served up alongside live music and recorded music all served up in a low tech and high colour environment , each party will be a journey with some unexpected twists.

'SPRING’ will showcase Holly Holden y Su Banda , Honeyfeet , DJ Bert Verso and 2 or 3 more acts to be announced ; as always a veritable cabaret of talent.

    Holly Holden y Su Banda

Holly Holden y Su Banda are a London-based three piece that blend bitter-sweet pop tunes with Caribbean rhythms in a deliciously danceable fusion they call Tropical Soul. In 2012 Holly formed a collaborative project X Planet with Cuban rapper Alayo Style. Their album Xistence, recorded in Santiago de Cuba with reggaeton producer Kiki Pro, combined reggae, rock, blues, bolero and hip hop to kisomba, and was well received in Cuba and London.

In Summer 2013 Holly toured throughout Europe with dubstep producer Mala for live performances of his ‘Mala in Cuba’ album at festivals including WOMAD, Worldwide Festival, North Sea Jazz and Fiesta des Suds. In 2014 she joined folk singer Johnny Flynn’s band The Sussex Wit, singing and playing percussion and harmonium on a headline European tour and at several UK festivals including Glastonbury.

    HONEYFEET

Evoking the afro-funk of Mulatu Atstake, the exuberant folk of Flook, and the blues of Junior Wells without ever sounding contrived or unoriginal, Honeyfeet have for some years been a conduit for the ideas and expressions of an exotic mixture of Manchester based musicians. Jazz?

Yes, Soul, yes, blues, yes some of that. Folk? Stick that in there! Hip-hop? I thought you’d never ask! Someone once called it Folk-Hop and Barrelhouse-pop, and that’s just vague enough to make sense. Whatever it is this legendary Manchester 6 piece have the skill, charm and (frankly)the tunes to pull it all together into a joyful, foot-banging sound.

Honeyfeet have spent the past 8 years tearing around festival stages and theatres, clubs and fields melting down blues, soul, pop, jazz and soul pushing air molecules around with instruments and making lots of friends in the process. Try to find a gigging band out there that hasn’t heard of them and you might have a job on your hands.

It helps that they are fronted by Ríoghnach Connolly, Real World’s newest signing and “a remarkable singer and flautist who…can ease from Irish traditional influences to soul” (The Guardian).

To put it simply Honeyfeet are quite unlike any band on the circuit, with their infectiously danceable groove, guttural passion and impeccable style. They are a band of the highest quality who manage to keep their sticky feet on the ground rooted in musical integrity, whilst soaring to the high with their revelrous spirit.

    “Remarkable” – The Guardian

“One Jools Holland Appearance away from runaway success” – Manchester Music Review

And as for Bert Verso ...., his tunes are some of our very favourite and generally defy a describtion as he plays acorss all genres , throwing in many suprises along the way.

February and March have brought unexpected challenges for Cobalt; a noise complaint was made against us and the council refused to allow a few programmed events to go ahead until significant soundproofing has been untaken. Our plan is to undertake this in April with a deadline launch for ‘SPRING’ on May 6th , our third of their Cobalt Seasonals event .

Tickets will be kept as affordable as possible and ALL ticket money goes directly to performers to support their art.
