This is a social cycle ride where we will be trying out using Hammersmith Bridge, now that it has been reopened for pedestrians and cyclists.
The 23 mile route for this ride can be downloaded from here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes...
Corrosion over many decades has left Hammersmith Bridge in such a fragile state that even mopeds have to be pushed over it. The bridge was going to be temporarily replaced by a ferry, but a stop-gap solution has been found which means that these plans are now on hold.
We meet at the Southwark Needle at 9.30am and cycle to Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park. We then pass through Brompton Cemetery and Fulham on our way to Hammersmith Bridge. We then proceed to Wimbledon Windmill, where we stop for a refreshment break. We then return to Dulwich Clock Cafe, where the ride finishes.
Ride pictures are posted on our Facebook page.
