This adult learner is a workshop-type course suitable for those who have never crocheted and are complete beginners, as well as those who wish to refresh some basics.
At the end of the workshop students will have:
Learnt or refreshed some basic crochet techniques
Be able to hold the hook and yarn, crochet a foundation chain, slip stitch and double crochet
Understand a basic written pattern
Create their own unique wearable piece of art – a chunky crocheted necklace
The learning methods will be demonstrations and one-to-one contact with the student and tutor. The tutor will be only too pleased to answer your questions and there will be time during the demonstrations and the one-to-one sessions to do this. .
This is a practical course and there is no paperwork, unless you wish to keep your own notes. Course handouts will be available. You may wish to take photographs. All materials will be provided.
If you wish to make more than one necklace, further materials will be available to purchase at a cost of £5 per person (cash only on the day). The tutor will also show some of her work, which will also be available to purchase during session.
Please adhere to any ‘Safe System of Work’ as advised by your tutor.
Please note this workshop would not be suitable for those who are sensitive/allergic to yarns, including natural ( cotton / wools) & synthetic yarns.
Steph Phillips is a Textile Artist specialising in crochet, although she is able to turn her hand to most textile related crafts. She has been teaching crochet for a number of years both locally and nationally. She has a wealth of knowledge to share with students. Her work and patterns have featured in several National Crochet Magazines, and she has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally as well as winning several National Textile Competitions. She is a member of The Bedfordshire Artist Network.
**Notice for attendees - we're a teeny bit off the high street, diagonally opposite Costa (through the arch). There is no parking on-site, instead we encourage you to use either the Waitrose car park (paying attention to the parking restrictions i.e. either 1.5hrs or 3hr options) or find suitable on-road parking nearby.
