    Join soprano Isabelle Peters and Baritone James Newby (Winner of the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Award) and special guests for an evening of classical song and festive favourites at the Lord Mayor's official residence, the Mansion House, Bristol.

    Isabelle Peters - Soprano

    Bristol born Soprano Isabelle Peters is currently a Masters student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, under the tutelage of Susan Waters. Isabelle graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a First Class Honours degree in 2016, under the tuition of Deborah Rees. Isabelle's opera roles include her performance as Dorabella in the RNCM Spring 2016 production of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte where her “warmth of tone as well as vibrant and appealing stage presence." (Seen and Heard International) was highly praised. Her RNCM Opera Excerpt roles include Tatyana (Tchaicovsky's Eugene Onegin), Laetitia (Menotti's The Old maid and The Thief) and Rosina (Mozart's La finta semplice).


    James Newby - Baritone

    Described as “musical" (Opera Now) and “promising" (The Times), Baritone James Newby is winner of 1st prize at the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Awards. He was also awarded Third Prize and the Richard Tauber prize (for best interpretation of a Schubert Lied) at the Wigmore Hall/Kohn International Song Competition in 2015. This year he became the recipient of the Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera Voice Fellowship and is currently singing with the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus. (...) James has recently graduated with first class honours from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where he studied with Alison Wells and was Mentored by Matthew Rose. He will continue his studies with a scholarship place on the Masters course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Robert Dean from September 2016.



    Steven Kings- Accompanist

    Steven Kings received his musical training at St John's College Cambridge and the Guildhall School of Music and
    Drama. He has performed around the country as soloist, accompanist and chamber musician, with a wide solo repertoire ranging from Scarlatti to Ligeti. He has appeared as the soloist in Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto and Choral Fantasia, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and Lambert's Rio Grande. His 2009 recording of piano music by John Pitts received widespread critical acclaim, and his performance of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition in the 2010 Bristol Cathedral Summer Festival was reviewed as "an excellently controlled performance with some scintillating playing".

    Steven performs regularly in chamber music with Roger Huckle and the Bristol Ensemble, and in duo with pianist Christopher Northam. He is in constant demand as accompanist to choirs, vocal soloists, and instrumentalists, and works regularly as official accompanist at Bristol University and the Bristol Music Festival.
