Following the successful poetry reading last Spring at the London Irish Centre, we are venturing a little further afield and bringing to London some of the best and most exciting poetry from the Celtic edges. Leading Welsh poet Samantha Wynne Rhydderch and Scottish poet Hazel Frew will be joining the formidable and masterly Martina Evans and Deirdre Shanahan.
Join us for an evening of readings from some of the most talented contemporary poets of these three islands.

Samantha Wynne Rhydderch
Both Samantha's collections from Picador were shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year. In 2014 her pamphlet Lime & Winter was published by Rack Press and shortlisted for the Michael Marks Award. Samantha runs a writers' retreat on the Wales coastal path at www.writebythecoast.co.uk.
Martina Evans
Martina Evans, poet and novelist, was born in Cork, the youngest of ten children. She is the author of ten books of poetry and prose. Facing the Public (Anvil 2012) was a TLS Book of the Year and recipient of the Premio Piero Ciampi Prize for Poetry. Burnfort Las Vegas (Anvil Press 2014) has been shorted listed for the Irish Time Poetry Now Award 2015.
Hazel Frew
Hazel Frew was born in 1968 and grew up by the Tay in Broughty Ferry in Scotland. She has two pamphlets published by Rack Press: Clockwork Scorpion (2008) and Minim (2014). Seahorses, her first full length collection was published by Shearsman in 2008. Her new collection is called Axis.
Deirdre Shanahan
Deirdre Shanahan has published poetry and fiction including stories in 'The Massachusetts Review,' The Southern Review,' and 'Iowa Woman.' Her work has been anthologised by Serpent`s Tail and Vintage. She has won a bursary from Arts Council England and an Eric Gregory Award.
