Description
In an age where more than ever before there is an infinite pool of people wanting to get their 5 seconds of screen time, how do you distinguish between what makes good TV and a wannabe?
Casting Exec Mel Walden (Child Genius) alongside Senior Casting Producers Kim Rossiter (First Dates) and Kay Green (The Island) join the panel for our next masterclass, divulging their experiences in factual documentary casting in the digital age, where online presence has, irrefutably, vastly changed the game.
This event will include:
- Panel discussion with Kim Rossiter, Mel Walden and Kay Green
- Q&A session
- Complementary drink upon arrival
This is an incredible opportunity for you to hear from three speakers from disparate programming backgrounds on arguably the most crucial part of factual programming. After all, if the audience can’t invest in your character - fact or fiction - all attention will be lost. They'll be discussing the process of accessing the right contributors and keeping them on the programme, duty of care, street casting and more. Hear tales of their best and worst casting experiences, as well as some practical advice on how to cast characters that will sell to the program makers.
More information about the panel:

Six years' work at Tiger Aspect, the BBC and Shine followed - mainly on competition formats such as Project Catwalk (Sky1) The Biggest Loser (ITV). Mel then joined Wall to Wall Media working as a Senior Casting Producer on hit series including Child Genius (C4) and was then promoted to Casting Executive. In March this year Mel joined Princess Productions as a Casting Executive.

At the beginning of this year she began a new role as Senior Casting Producer on the BAFTA award winning First Dates (C4). Notably, she is also a DVT Series Producer Fast Track Alumni.
Senior Casting Producer Kay Green has extensive casting experience; from finding an American polygamist with British ancestry, to ordinary couples in loving relationships willing to have sex in a box in a studio for Channel 4 (Sex Box).
