    Description

In the west democracy and capitalism have been heavily entwined. In our current manifestation of capitalism, the poorer you are the less you will experience democracy whilst the wealthier you are the more you are able to influence democracy. In this case we are defining democracy as being of the commoners and equality amongst people.

Technology is changing this dynamic, "by creating millions of networked people, financially exploited but with the whole of human intelligence one thumb-swipe away, info-capitalism has created a new agent of change in history: the educated and connected human being."

Furthermore, economist Dr. Weinstein predicts the end of 20th century style capitalism being brought about not by a competing ideology but instead by changing technology.

We will be discussing how the relationship between democracy and capitalism is being changed due to technology.

The event is being held in partnership with the Association of Professional Futurists.
