On Saturday 27th January Brothers Of Fire will be hosting COPcon V. Another chance to get together for some relaxed Old School MtG. And the chance to win the event's coveted COP and Brothers Of Fire!
We've secured a great venue a few minutes' walk from the Excel Centre which is hosting Channel Fireball's GP London, so anyone looking to experience the GP can easily do so. However, COPcon will be the only place to play Old School. Just as importantly, our event will feature the relaxed vibes you know and love from COPcon - plentiful beers, no over-competitive shenanigans, and a cosy pub environment rather than a convention centre under striplights.
You'll have noticed that we are charging a fairly substantial entrance fee for the event. To set minds at ease, this is merely to cover a minimum deposit for food and drink. At the start of the event I will be issuing every attendee with an immediate CASH rebate in the region of £5-20, keeping monies only to put a shared kitty covering food and drink. (Exact sum of rebate will be determined by final number of attendees).
All attendees will then enjoy a share of this kitty, allowing them to enjoy a pub-cooked meal and several free drinks (issued in the form of drink tokens). No profits will be held by us and I'll publish the finances to show transparency - this is purely to cover our commitment to put money through the bar. So if you feel anxious, just look at this as paying for your food and drink in advance of the day, and enabling us to secure a venue so well-placed for the GP.
TL;DR - We are taking £40 off everyone in advance, but on the morning of the event you'll receive a chunk of that back in cash, and you'll be able to redeem the rest of it in food and drink.
