    26th July is Bookwood's Independents' Day!


    This month’s Bookwood is an expo of the ideas and memes of a generation of independent publishers who stopped waiting for it to happen and made it happen for themselves.

    Jacaranda Books, the invention of Hackney born Valerie Brandes is a genre-bridging publisher of African and Diaspora stories of literary fiction which has also achieved bestselling success in the WH Smith chart with Frances Mensah Williams’s ‘From Pasta to Pigfoot’

    Three successful years of short story publishing have brought micro-publisher Arachne Press awards and nominations under the editorship of Cherry Potts. Authors, Wendy Gill, Bartle Sawbridge and Rosalind Stopps join us at Bookwood to show why Arachne are celebrating

    Kit Caless is a publisher basking in the critical sunlight illuminating his author Darran Anderson and their groundbreaking book ‘Imaginary Cities’. Influx Press steps into the Netil Market compound with a camarilla of publishers including world fiction translators And Other Stories.

    After eight years at Maia Press, its co-creator Maggie Hamand, continues to evolve and innovate within literature by mentoring new writers through her Complete Creative Writing Course. Hamand will be selling copies of her own books including her ‘Creative Writing for Dummies’ and titles from Maia’s award winning back catalogue.

    • I have not received my Bookwood Book-Fair ticket via email. What should I do?

      The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your Bookwood Book-Fair tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your Bookwood Book-Fair tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

    • I wish to cancel my Bookwood Book-Fair ticket and receive a refund. What should I do?

      The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you.
