Blue in Green featuring the Sam Glaser Quartet
Blue in Green is a monthly night of live jazz music at the Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green where the audience is invited to make art in response to the performances. For August we are delighted to welcome as guest act saxophonist Sam Glaser with his quartet, consisting of Matt Robinson on piano, Sam Ingvorsen on bass and Will Glaser on drums.
London-based alto saxophonist Sam Glaser is a graduate from the Royal Academy of Music and was a long-standing member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. His quartet features some of the most in-demand musicians in the UK, playing his original compositions which draw inspiration from musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Will Vinson, Chris Potter and Chris Cheek.
Sam also plays regularly with the Gareth Lockrane Big Band and is a member of the award-winning ensemble Patchwork Jazz Orchestra. He has also recorded for Gentleman's Dub Club, XOA and Slowly Rolling Camera and toured and performed extensively around the world in venues and festivals including The Royal Albert Hall, The Sage, Ronnie Scott's, Echos of Earth Festival (Bangalore), Jazzablanca Festival (Morocco) and Hurricane/Southside Festivals (Germany).
"A strong voice, steeped in the tradition as well as very much a soloist for today!" - Stan Sulzmann
