Blue in Green featuring the Nick Costley-White Trio
Blue in Green is an evening of live jazz where the audience is invited to draw/paint spontaneously during the performances. It takes place monthly at the Gallery Cafe, London, and to see in 2020 we'll be welcoming guitarist Nick Costley-White with his trio.
Nick’s new organ trio focuses on music from the 60s-Blue-Note-era by composers such as Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter, alongside a few songbook favourites. Nick's debut album Detour Ahead (Ubuntu Music) was released in 2018 to critical acclaim, with Jazzwise magazine calling it 'A masterclass in the under appreciated art of playing beautiful laid back swing', and he now presents this exciting new group featuring two of the finest jazz musicians the UK has ever produced: Steve Brown on drums, who’s CV includes a seemingly unending list of jazz greats including Barry Harris and Scott Hamilton; and an absolute stalwart of the London jazz scene on organ, Ross Stanley (Seamus Blake, Phil Robson).

The evening will begin with a warm-up set from pianist Alex Chalstrey and friends. You are welcome and encouraged as always to draw/paint during the performances. Some art supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. £5 adv, £8 otd.
