Blue in Green is a monthly evening of live jazz and art in Bethnal Green, where the audience is encouraged to make art in response to the performances. Everyone is welcome to take part with the art! Our guest act for the March event will be Howl Quartet, with support as always from the house band.
Howl Quartet is a two-saxophone-led jazz quartet that write original melodies over standard chord progressions. Taking inspiration from the contrafact writing of Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh, Howl Quartet look to create beautiful and surprising pathways through traditional harmony.
Comprising of graduates of Royal Academy of Music and Royal Welsh College, Harry Brunt, Dan Smith, Pete Komor and Matt Parkinson have been performing regularly on the London scene for 3 years. They have been writing collectively since the beginning of 2018 with the shared ambition of digging deeper into the tradition of the music and to understand the strength of a 'line' in a more thorough way.
