Blue in Green is a monthly evening of live jazz where the audience is invited to make art in response to the performances. Our guest act this time is Floating Circles Quartet, an exciting modern jazz ensemble and forward-thinking project led by clarinettist and Guildhall graduate Aidan Pearson along with former classmates Jonny Wickham on bass, Arthur Newell on drums and Matt Hurley on guitar.
Featuring the characterful compositions of Aidan Pearson, the group have been honing their sound and developing rapidly since their debut performance in 2017 at The Rose and Crown, Kentish Town. Their music is melodic, colorful and often serene, with arrangements that harness the unique timbre of the ensemble to its full potential. They cite Andy Sheppard, Oregon and Portico quartet as their main influences, with elements of classical, blues and folk music also evident in their style.
During the summer of 2018 they released their first EP ‘Eleven Yesterdays Ago,’ which was reviewed favourably by magazines and music blogs alike. Sussex Jazz Magazine praised the ‘fine guitar work’ and ‘excellent drumming’ on the EP, whilst Jazz blogger Ian Mann from Jazzmann.com gave them 3.5 stars out of 5 in his review: ‘Floating Circles Quartet have already created their own distinctive sound.....I found the group’s music absorbing and often beautiful.’ They performed to a packed out venue at the Vortex Jazz club during February 2019, and they are currently raising funds to record their second album, featuring the new material they’ve been showcasing during their various gigs at Jazz clubs in and around London.
The house trio (Piano - Alex Chalstrey, Bass - Refa Wang, Drum Set - Adrian Ortman) will kick things off with a support set of some choice jazz repertoire. Grab your tickets for £5 online, or gain entry for £8 on the door.

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services.
