Description
Blow Up continues its Friday residency in Soho at the legendary St Moritz Club, and this week DAVID WOODCOCK + THE ENDS will be performing live.
The basement club is one of the last 'original' venues in the West End, virtually unchanged since the 60s, and Blow Up kicked off it's new Friday night residency here in January.
Expect to hear classic tracks from both Blow Up's past and present: from Brit Pop era favourites (the scene which the club helped kick-start way back in 1993 in Camden Town) to the current new Pop & indie stylists putting the art back into pop colliding with 60's Soul, Beat, Garage, Funk, Ska, Swinging Soundtracks, Hammond Heavy Jazz, Easy Listening & Ye-Ye! Brit Pop, Glam & Post Punk / New Wave will all be present and correct.
**DAVID WOODCOCK**
David Woodcock returns to Blow Up, to launch his new EP 'The Adventures Of You And Me' on Blow Up Records. David is a singer songwriter based in his hometown of Southend-on Sea, and the title track of his new EP is taken from his self-titled debut album which won him support from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music (New Favourite Band), Jon Kennedy on Xfm and Gary Crowley on BBC London amongst others, and he recently recorded a session for Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music too:
David Woodcock is a talent. Every observation is honed to perfection. Brilliant
4 STARS Ian McCann, Record Collector
Part Stiff Records, part Brit Pop. A reckless Stephen Duffy or an Essex Jarvis Cocker Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 MUSIC
Fabulous stuff. A very talented fellow Marc Riley, BBC 6 MUSIC
An English Pop masterpiece. Essential Pop Junkie
**THE ENDS**
The Ends are four piece from Canvey Island: straight out of the Thames estuary mud - loud and brash with added grit. A rebel yell from an alternative 'Essex'.
They've played hundreds of gigs around the UK, most recently suporting The Enemy, and their in-your-face, high-energy performances and punk attitude have seen them compared to The Hives, The Clash, Arctic Monkeys and fellow Canvey Islanders Dr. Feelgood and described by James Curran at Absolute Radio as:
like Blur mixed with The Sex Pistols
