A guided coach tour that takes you into the heart of the places where people crafted their livelihoods before Sheffield town grew into an industrial metropolis of global fame. Today we explore industry and occupation in the hills and valleys surrounding old Sheffield town taking in the Cathedral, Shepherd Wheel, Heeley City Farm, Bishops House, Sheffield Manor Lodge.
About the Tour Venues:
Sheffield Cathedral: Tour welcome, view documents from Sheffield Archives and immerse yourself in Sheffield’s oldest building still in continuous use.
Sheffield Manor Lodge: experience life as lived in a grand Tudor residence set in the heart of a magnificent deer park.
Heeley City Farm: Learn about Sheffield’s farming heritage and enjoy a delicious lunch at their café.
Bishop’s House: Discover how Sheffield’s pre-industrial heritage is kept alive by a team of dedicated volunteers for today and the future.
Shepherd Wheel: Set in the picturesque valley of the Porter Brook, Shepherd Wheel is a unique working example of Sheffield knife grinding industry dating back to when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne. (Please note: approx. half mile walk from coach drop off)

Panoramic views at each location give you the opportunity to imagine what Sheffield was like “before the smoke”.
Lunch and refreshments included.
