Description
'Enchantingly dark', 'empowered orchestral sound' and 'unplugged sophistication' – Beatrix Players use evocative melodies to tell stories of real life and fantasy. Citing influences as diverse as Michael Nyman and Regina Spektor and drawing comparisons to the likes of Kate Bush and Einaudi Ludovico, this London-based, all female trio combine elements of folk, jazz and classical music. Beatrix Players create a chemistry on stage as they follow the natural flow and dynamics of their unique sound – a beautiful combination of vocals, piano and cello.
"A warm series of piano-driven songs that combine the dynamics and vocal delivery of Kate Bush with Tori Amos piano-gymnastics… There's a chamber feel to their arrangements…I'm reminded of brightly lit afternoons in the Georgian rooms of a conservatoire." Paul Woodgate, Folk Radio
"Gentle on the ear but strong enough to make a great impression on the mind. A waft of elegant anglicana, which hints at jazz and levels of unplugged sophistication. So good they should be declared compulsory listening for all those seeking music beyond the norm. Swoonsome harmonies to swim with, drown in…Not one gruff note or rough vocal line, recalls the likes of Pentangle and maybe even a whisper of Sandy Denny in the way they relate to homegrown musical stylings." Moorlands Radio

Support from Provincials; a dark folk acoustic trio from Hampshire and Dorset.
"Arty, open-ended, diatonic, spacious, very reverberant… a sort of wistful chamber-improv-Anglorum." – Independent on Sunday
"Dripping atmosphere like an abandoned Victorian railway tunnel…Polly Perry's voice is a slow-moving river through a mutable landscape of guitar arpeggios and walls of echoed atonal sound." – R2 Magazine
"A very dark, ethereal alt-classical jazz soundscape. Poetic, brooding, resonant and menacing…an edge of Ennio Morricone." - Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music
