Description

London-based multi-talented Polish musician, Basia Bartz, has created and developed an original songbook of excitingly diverse material, drawing from the folk music of her homeland, her love of jazz and classic singer-songwriters, and her live experiments with looping. With this she has embarked on a wonderfully experimental, inventive path, combining musical styles, genres, musical instruments and techniques, exploring her inner world of sounds and emotions. Performing on piano and violin with her trio, featuring Chris Jones on drums and Ben Reed on bass, plus guest appearance by frequent collaborator Shem Fillmore on sarangi and mandolin, Basia’s incredibly strong, unique and versatile vocals and compositions will take your breath away. With EP Out of the Woods released earlier this year, we expect a forthcoming stunning album in the making.

Since relocating from her native Poland eighteen years ago, Basia Bartz has found herself to be in high demand as a session violinist across many genres, ubiquitous in the London music scene. She has been a member of a great many bands and projects, encompassing traditional music, Americana, indie, jazz and pop. Singer-songwriters in particular have benefited from Basia’s skills as a tasteful and sensitive accompanist. Encouraged and inspired by the musical communities she has become part of over the years, not to mention her increasing self confidence and desire for a deeper level of self expression, Basia began performing her own compositions in 2019.

Basia has performed in some of London’s most prestigious venues including, among others: The Roundhouse, Forum, Ronnie Scott’s, Purcell Room, King’s Place, Royal Academy of Music, Elgar Room at Royal Albert Hall, Union Chapel and has toured extensively across Europe and the UK.The Finnish Church runs an unlicensed cafe selling Finnish snacks and hot and cold drinks. Rotherhithe Station is the closest station. Music will start at 7pm.
