The Hampstead Jazz Club brings you the incredible works of Astor Piazzolla performed by the BAIRES CONNECTION - A female Argentinian Trio that encapsulate all that is to love about the Argentine Tango and beyond!
Born from a crucible of Africa’s candombe, Europe’s waltz and polka, and Cuba’s habanera, tango crystalises cultural fusion and inclusion, symbolising the spirit of a new world.
Astor Piazzolla revolutionised the genre, reshaping it into a new form of expression. He pushed the boundaries so boldly - and with such genius - that he took it beyond what was imaginable at the time, sparking bitter controversy between traditionalists and modernists.
But time has worked its magic. Today, Piazzolla’s music is played, admired and loved all over the world.
Passionate and complex. Profoundly Argentine, yet universal. That’s tango, that’s Piazzolla.
Baires Connection is a flute, piano and percussion trio which began in London. Three Argentine women connected by one of the richest and most admired of South America’s cultural legacies: Argentine tango.
They have been performing in several venues across the UK and Europe and have participated in tango and jazz festivals launching their homage to Astor Piazzolla.
Ianina Pietrantonio
Ianina Pietrantonio is a flautist established in London since 2015. She has been awarded numerous prizes and other recognitions for her performances of Astor Piazzolla’s works, which she performed in Argentina, Europe and Asia.
Julieta Iglesias

Camila de la Vega
Camila de la Vega, drummer and percussionist, studied at Contemporary Music (Berklee Music Network) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her interest in the exploration of many musical styles, and her desire to learn from inspirational musicians of her instrument, has pushed her to travel around the world; studying in Cuba and now in Europe. Along the way, she has had the incredible opportunity to learn from musicians such as Pipi Piazzolla, Oscar Giunta, Yoel Paez, James Madren, among others.
