Join movement researcher and lecturer Tina Afiyan Breiova for a 5-day workshop in London, diving into the training and performance methodologies that underpin her Axis of Action research. Limited to 25 participants.

-Workshop Content-
Through an artistic lens we will turn inside out various movement principals with the intention to find variability and expand our intellectual and physical horizons. The workshop will look at exploring tools and perspectives useful for artists in approach of their creative craft. We will explore the use of image and imagination in the texturing of our work, the importance of visualisation, and redefine primary principles of our human movement. We will identify one’s habits and provoke a strategic and problem solving thinking. We will examine our training ‘blind-spots’ through play, exposing ourselves to sincere failures and working with tools and partners. Independence regarding our self-development will be encouraged and our adaptiveness will be tested though guided and free-form movement. Overall, we will be aiming to enrich the quality of the conversation that we are having with ourselves and observe how it shapes the relationships and interactions that we cultivate as humans.
-Tina Afiyan Breiova-
Tina is a performer, movement director and teacher of Armenian descent, based in the Czech republic and the UK. She is a graduate of P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels and the Duncan Centre Conservatory in Prague. Artistically she has collaborated with companies including Alexander Vantournhout/ Not Standing, Roberto Olivan Dance Company, Thomas Ryckewaert, Juliane Von Crailsheim, Cie Willi Dorner, Milan Tomášik & Co and Cirk La Putyka.
As an independent choreographer she has created award-winning work for dance, theatre and circus and for film has worked with artists including Paul Thomas Anderson, Thom Yorke, Damien Jalet, Laurat Delforge, Simon Riechel, Ran Li and with the movement departments of Warner Brothers Pictures & Universal Pictures.
Tina is currently a Module Leader and Lecturer in London Contemporary Dance School and has taught at institutions and studios including P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, HAMU Academy in Prague, Menagerie de Verre in Paris, the Peridance Capezio Centre in New York, Henny Jurriens Studio in Amsterdam, Cirque-Est in Montreal and the Oxford School of Drama. Tina is a founding member of the Ferus Animi//Terra Nova collective. Her personal practice is informed by research under the teachings of Hannes Langolf, Coral Ortega, Salva Sanchez, Julyen Hamilton, Crysa Parkinson, Lloyd Newson, Cameron Shayne, Guilherme Arashiro, Linda Kapentanea & Jozef Frucek, and David Zambrano.
