Description
The renowned Appledore Flower Festival is a three day extravaganza which takes place in the beautiful and historic village of Appledore over the August Bank Holiday weekend (27th, 28th, and 29th August). The Flower Festival provides our visitors with an experience to see flowers brought to life in over thirty arrangements based around a specific theme. Our theme this year is entitled ’90 Years Ago’ and is centred on the Queen’s 90th Birthday and significant births, deaths, inventions and songs from 1926……90 years ago.
This is a well-established event which attracts visitors from all over the country year after year and is an amazing spectacle whether you are a flower lover or not.
The home-made refreshments and cakes are second to none! Come along to be tempted by home-made cheese scones, quiche, sausage rolls and every kind of cake imaginable!
Live music is performed in the church over the entire weekend by local musicians and singers, including children.
There are stalls selling local produce (donated by villagers), hand-crafted items, cakes and preserves, books, plants and ancient and modern second-hand items on sale.
A special ‘Flower Festival Service’ will be held in the church on Sunday 28th August at 10.30am. Lindsay Hammond, the Area Dean of the Romney & Tenterden Deanery will be preaching and the Mayor of Ashford will be reading the lesson.
A Preview Evening will be held on Friday 26th August with live music, wine and canapés. Everyone is welcome. Tickets £5. Please contact Donna Clifton (organiser) on 01233 758256 for a ticket or further information.
The Festival’s finale ends in a special ‘Songs of Praise’ thanksgiving service on Monday 29th August at 6pm.
Free admission and parking……….A great day out!
