Experimental, leftfield techno and new wave treats from Rhythm Section's rising selector, Anu.
Just as comfortable churning out techno, new wave and electro as she is playing Japanese disco and classic party anthem anu doesn’t take herself too seriously .With a supremely varied collection and sensibility, she always brings a smile to the dancers faces and is fast making a name for herself as a dandy selector being booked across the globe for her tasty tunes.
And if there’s one thing for certain when you catch her play – you’ll be dancing hard but she’ll be dancing harder.
anu (with a lowercase a) is a DJ and illustrator from London. Part of the Rhythm Section family, she’s instrumental in making sure the label’s feats reach the ears of music lovers around the globe.
Her musical beginnings trace back to Equaliser, an online magazine she ran with a friend, which focused on showcasing the individuals behind the music. Originally kick-starting her radio career on Radar Radio she then went on to host a show on Peckham’s Balamii before landing a monthly slot on NTS.
This year has been a very exciting one for anu. Earlier this year Dimensions Festival announced she would be part of their new DJ Directory, this was quickly followed by an Resident Advisor Live at Brilliant Corners and then came her debut Boiler Room appearance. Not only that, she’s thrown a series of parties in Berlin alongside DJ and friend JM Moser, and represented NTS at Uganda’s first edition of Ngeye Ngeye festival.
John Paynter (Space Age Freakout and Psychic Graffiti.) supports with his equally eclectic sets for dancing!
