The Hampstead Jazz Club brings you another first! This concert brings together Andrew Baker on tenor sax and compositions, Liam Noble on piano, Calum Gourlay on double bass and Corrie Dick on drums. Baker presents his music accompanied by some of the finest and most exciting musicians on the UK jazz scene.

Andrew is a saxophonist, composer and producer based in the UK and Europe. He studied music as an undergraduate at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, where hestudied under Tommy Smith and Julian Arguelles. He also has a masters in Jazz performance and Modern music from Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain where he studied with American saxophonist Bill McHenry. He plays tenor and soprano saxophones.

The music he writes is continually evolving. It embraces straight ahead, modern styles and free improvisation. He searches for visceral musicality and a subconscious level of ensemble interaction. He has performed with world renowned artists including: Masa Kamaguchi, Albert Bover, Marc Michel, Michael League, Snarky Puppy, Lee-Scratch Perry, Roots Manuva, Yotam Silverstein, Juan 'Cotito' Medrano, Juan Daniel Pastor, Bill McHenry, Joe McPhee, Chris Corsano, Liam Nobel, Calum Gourlay, Corrie Dick, Felix Rossy, Carles Benavent, Carlos Falanga, Gran Ensemble del Liceu, Toni Vaquer, Bill Evans, Randy Brecker, Paolo Fresu, Philip Cardwell, Doug Hough, Pete Johnstone, Brodie Jarvie, Ken Ychicawa, Giuseppe Campisi, Joan Casares and many more.

“...An excellent improvising musician, very naturally gifted and performs with an excitement and intensity few musicians posses. He has a tremendous potential as a jazz musician and composer...”— DR. TOMMY SMITH
